CST aims to protect British Jews in every way we can. We recruit and train volunteers to provide physical security to Jewish spaces and events; we work with Police, Government and our partner organisations to combat antisemitism and the threat of terrorism; we also give personal safety advice to our community.
This October, CST supported National Hate Crime Awareness Week (NHCAW) organised by 17-24-30 No To Hate Crime Campaign alongside Stop Hate UK. CST attended events and ran stalls around London and produced a successful social media campaign to raise awareness of NHCAW and the importance of reporting hate crime.
CST has been focused on working with Jewish schools and parents to ensure all members of our Jewish community have access to the vital support and protection we offer. As well as launching the new publication A Parent’s Guide to CST at the Maccabi Community Fun Run earlier this summer, CST has been attending schools to work with parents, staff and teachers to explain the crucial work we do and what we can offer.
This week, CST hosted over 30 CCTV contractors from across the United Kingdom at the second CCTV forum that CST has held. Through the Security Enhancement Project, CST has spent over £11 million on enhancing physical security measures at Jewish buildings throughout the UK, including CCTV. CST has also developed a national security control room, with direct CCTV access to hundreds of Jewish communal building across the UK.
Yad Vashem, The World Holocaust Remembrance Center, based in Jerusalem, has launched an innovative online antisemitism course. CST Head of Policy, Dr Dave Rich and CST Government and International Affairs Director, Mike Whine MBE, were both interviewed for the project and CST assisted with gathering historical material to be used by the students.
