CST is pleased to welcome Mayor Sadiq Khan’s newly published Police and Crime plan for London. The Plan prioritises violence against women and girls, keeping children and young people safe, and importantly focuses on hate crime and violence. The plan sets out a list of commitments to tackle hate crime, including antisemitism, as well as to provide support for victims of such crimes. The Plan also includes a new Online Hate Crime Hub and new support for groups helping victims of such crimes.

Haider Syed Mustafa, a 31-year-old Pakistani man, went on trial in Berlin this week. Mustafa has been accused of collecting information on Jewish and Israeli targets in Germany and France. This is not the first time Iran, or Iranian operatives, have targeted Jews and Israelis in suspected terror plots or been found to have collected information and Jews and Israelis.

American Jews have been rocked in recent weeks by a wave of anti-Semitic incidents, including bomb threats and cemetery desecrations. These kinds of attacks are not supposed to happen in the Jewish utopia of the United States, and suddenly the sense of insecurity felt by European Jewish communities in recent years seems to be making its way across the Atlantic.

The Home Secretary, Amber Rudd MP, was the guest of honour at CST’s 2017 Annual Dinner in central London last night. The dinner is CST’s main fundraising event of the year. It was sponsored by Deloitte and attended by around 1,000 guests, including donors, politicians, Police officers, Jewish community partners and other supporters of CST’s work protecting our Jewish community.
