CST’s Antisemitic Discourse Report covering 2019 is released today. Antisemitism continued to play a prominent role in British public life in 2019 and even featured significantly in the 2019 General Election, a fact that is without precedent in modern British politics.

  • CST Research Briefing on Mehdi Nemmouche and the Brussels Jewish Museum Attack

CST is today publishing an in-depth report, 'Mehdi Nemmouche & the Brussels Jewish Museum Attack: A case study in jihadist antisemitic terrorism' analysing the jihadist attack on 24 May 2014. Last month, on 8 March, Nemmouche, a former ISIS fighter, was convicted in Belgium of carrying out the ISIS-linked firearms terrorist attack. This was the first case of a returning European jihadist fighter from Syria/Iraq to attack in Europe, and it marked the opening of a series of terrorist attacks and disrupted plots in Europe, the UK and the West that were directed, inspired or connected to ISIS. In the words of a report by West Point’s Combatting Terrorism Center, “Nemmouche’s attack was not a random one-off event, but actually a leading indicator of a wave of ISIS-connected violence that would target European and other Western cities. Nemmouche was just a preliminary warning.”

  • Antisemitic Discourse Report 2017

    29 November 2018

CST’s new report, Antisemitic Discourse in Britain 2017, released today, looks at the presence of antisemitic ideas or language, and discussion of antisemitism in general, in mainstream media, politics and public debate last year. Explicit prejudice or hostility towards or about Jews, simply for being Jewish, is rarely voiced in British public life; but the expression and transmission of antisemitic attitudes about “Zionists” or Israel, including conspiracy theories and the abuse of Holocaust memory, are more common, and on occasion were even defended as a legitimate part of mainstream politics during 2017.

  • New publication: Iran & Hizbollah’s global terrorism

Today, CST has published a new report, 'Iran & Hizbollah’s global terrorism: patterns and methods'. Iran and Hizbollah's operations have been a security concern long before al-Qaeda, ISIS and other Salafi-Jihadis started attacking diaspora Jewish communities. Hizbollah and Iran possess international terrorist capabilities, and they continue to pose a viable threat to their primary targets: Iranian dissidents living abroad, diaspora Jewish communities and Israeli interests worldwide. Both Iran and Hizbollah operate globally and have a history of engaging in covert terrorist activities and criminal endeavours. In fact, the New York Police Department’s Intelligence Division assessed that Hizbollah “possesses a vibrant global network with cells operating on five continents”, including networks and terrorist infrastructures in Europe, United Kingdom, USA, Canada and elsewhere around the globe.

  • The Bratislava LGBT+ bar shooting and the ‘Jewish Occupied System’

On 12 October 2022, a 19-year-old white supremacist perpetrated a fatal shooting attack outside an LGBT+ bar in Bratislava, Slovakia, killing two and injuring one.
