Antisemitism has often been compared to a virus, but really it acts like a parasite: because whenever there is a major crisis in the world, antisemites use it to spread their hatred for Jews. No matter how much genuine suffering there is, antisemites will always react to it by blaming Jews, and then find a way to spread their particular venom to others. Engine of Hate: the online networks behind the Labour Party's antisemitism crisis

The problem of antisemitism in the Labour Party over the past three years has been fuelled by a flow of antisemitic tweets and posts on social media, done in the name of the Labour Party and its leader, Jeremy Corbyn. Many of these tweets use hateful language to attack Jewish Labour MPs or other people who raise concerns about antisemitism; other tweets claim that any mention of antisemitism is part of a conspiracy to ‘smear’ Corbyn and Labour.

CST has today published our 2018 Antisemitic Incidents Report, which shows that CST recorded a record high total of 1,652 antisemitic incidents in the UK last year. 2018 was the third year in a row that CST has recorded a record high incident total and means the problem of rising antisemitism in our country continues to grow. Antisemitic Discourse Report 2016

CST’s new report, Antisemitic Discourse in Britain 2016, looks at the presence of antisemitic ideas or language, and discussion of antisemitism in general, in mainstream media, politics and public debate last year. Explicit prejudice or hostility towards or about Jews, simply for being Jewish, is rarely voiced in British public life; but antisemitism became a national political issue in 2016, while media discussion of the subject was more prominent than it had been for many years.

CST Antisemitic Incidents Report for January-June 2018 published today

This report shows that the number of antisemitic hate incidents reported to CST in the UK fell by 8 per cent in the first six months of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. However, the total of 727 antisemitic incidents recorded by CST in the first six months of 2018 was the second-highest total CST has ever recorded for the January to June period of any year. The highest ever total for this period was the 786 incidents recorded in the first half of 2017, which was the highest total CST has ever recorded for the January to June period and was part of a record annual total of 1,414 antisemitic incidents during the whole calendar year of 2017. CST has recorded antisemitic incidents since 1984.
