CST Security Bulletin following Pittsburgh shooting

29 Oct 2018 by CST

Following the tragic mass casualty shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, USA, this Shabbat, CST has sent this security bulletin to all UK Jewish communal venues, requesting that our community remains calm, vigilant and cooperative with security measures.

CST has been in close contact with Police since the appalling attack in Pittsburgh and we stress that there is no information suggesting a specific or imminent threat to the Jewish community in the UK. Nevertheless, we are advising commercial security companies and security volunteers operating at all Jewish locations to ensure that they perform their duties as rigorously and thoroughly as possible, and we ask the Jewish community to remain calm, vigilant and continue to lead its way of life to the full.

“Since 2003, CST has been a stalwart supporter of ODIHR in its efforts to effectively monitor antisemitic hate crime in the OSCE Region. With its rigorous methodology and innovative partnerships with the British police, it is viewed by many as representing the gold standard for NGO responses to all forms of hate crime. I wish CST all success in its exciting new phase of work.”
