  CST welcomes the report in The Times that the neo-Nazi organisation National Action may be proscribed by the government. National Action is a viciously antisemitic and racist neo-Nazi group whose violent and hateful rhetoric has already inspired its follows to commit appalling hate crimes. We would support its proscription as a measure to curb its hateful activities.

• CST welcomes Government announcement to ban neo-Nazi National Action

  The British Government has officially announced that far right National Action is to be banned under terror laws. Home Secretary Amber Rudd labelled the group a “racist, antisemitic and homophobic organisation”. The proscription of the group means that it will bea criminal offence to belong to the group, invite support for the group, arrange meetings to support the group and to wear clothing or carry or display articles publically which support the group. Penalties for offences which contravene the proscription carry a maximum prison term of 10 years and an unlimited fine.

  This October, CST supported National Hate Crime Awareness Week (NHCAW) organised by 17-24-30 No To Hate Crime Campaign alongside Stop Hate UK. CST attended events and ran stalls around London and produced a successful social media campaign to raise awareness of NHCAW and the importance of reporting hate crime.

  Reclaim the Internet, the campaign to raise awareness and tackle abuse online, was launched this morning by Yvette Cooper MP and a panel of experts on abuse online. The campaign is focused on ending misogyny, sexual harassment and abuse online aimed at women, but the campaign is also a platform to bring together various groups dealing with abuse online, including CST.
