CST’s Dr Dave Rich spoke earlier this morning at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office ’s Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration. Holocaust survivor Dorit Oliver-Woolff gave a moving testimony of her experiences during the Second World War and other speakers included HE Ambassador Mark Regev, Professor Yehuda Bauer, The Rt Hon Sir Eric Pickles MP and The RT Hon Baroness Anelay of St John’s DBE. CST assists Home Office in formulation of new Hate Crime Action Plan

Today the new Home Secretary, Amber Rudd MP, launched the Hate Crime Action Plan at the offices of Galop, the lead organisation behind the CATCH: Community Alliance to Combat Hate project. Though long in the planning stages, it has been launched following a surge in hate crimes being reported since the vote to the leave the European Union. CST had the pleasure of being invited to the launch this morning to discuss the plan with the Home Secretary, alongside community partners including Tell Mama UK and Galop.

Antisemitic Incidents Report 2022

CST’s Antisemitic Incidents Report 2022, published today, shows 1,652 anti-Jewish hate incidents recorded nationwide in 2022. This is the fifth-highest annual total ever reported to CST, and a 27% decrease from the 2,261 antisemitic incidents in 2021, which was a record high sparked by antisemitic reactions to the conflict in the Middle East that year.

On Monday evening, over 1,000 members of the Jewish community and its supporters protested in Parliament Square to tell the leader of the Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn, that Enough is Enough. Since Jeremy Corbyn was first named Labour party leader, in September 2015, there has been a growing focus on the problem of antisemitism in the party. Repeated cases of antisemitism from Labour Party members have not been dealt with quickly or effectively under Corbyn’s leadership and the Jewish community is now demanding action.
CST report shows 22% increase in campus antisemitism
