  • CST Chief Executive David Delew to step down

    CST's Chief Executive, David Delew has decided to step down after successfully leading the organisation for the past 7 years. At the same time, CST is pleased to announce that Mark Gardner, currently CST’s Director of Communications and Deputy Chief Executive, has been appointed his successor. Following a handover period, Mark will assume responsibility at CST’s Head office on 1 September, 2020.

  • Antisemitic incidents: a summary

    CST’s annual Antisemitic Incidents Report, shows that 2019 was the worst year on record, with a total of 1,805 incidents deemed antisemitic by CST. This is 7% higher than the 2018 total of 1,690 incidents and is the fourth successive year in which a new annual high has been recorded. For the second successive year, CST recorded over 100 incidents in every calendar month.

  • Devon and Cornwall Police win award for their handling of antisemitism terrorist incident

    CST would like to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Devon and Cornwall Police, overall winners at the World Class Policing Awards 2019. The constabulary was recognised for their leading contribution in a number of areas, including digital device detection, policing the badger cull, support of domestic abuse victims, strategic alliance, and their handling of the terrorist incident at Exeter Synagogue.   

  • CST supports National Hate Crime Awareness Week and launches guide to tackling antisemitism on Facebook

    CST is proud to support the annual National Crime Awareness Week, a week of action to raise awareness and to encourage local authorities, communities and key partners to tackle hate crime. This week, the Home Office revealed that hate crimes against Jews had doubled in England and Wales, with 1,326 recorded in 2018/9, compared to 672 the previous year. In 18% of the recorded religious hate crimes, Jews were the target, while 47% targeted the Muslim community.

  • Government advisor on antisemitism John Mann MP addresses OSCE conference

    In his first speech as the newly appointed Advisor on Combating Antisemitism, John Mann MP stated yesterday at the OSCE Human Dimension conference in Warsaw, which CST’s International Director Mike Whine MBE attended, that it is important that the UK Government be seen to be taking the lead in combating antisemitism.    

  • CST prepares Police and volunteers to protect our Jewish community during the High Holy Days

    This week, CST hosted approximately 200 volunteer personnel, security guards and Police at the pre-High Holy Day security briefing. The briefing takes place annually to ensure that we are prepared to protect our Jewish community during one of the community’s most visible times.   

  • Antisemitic Incidents Report January-June 2019

    CST has today published our January-June 2019 Antisemitic Incidents Report, which shows that CST recorded a record high total of 892 antisemitic incidents in the UK in the first six months of 2019. This is the highest number of incidents CST has ever recorded in the January to June period of any year and is a ten per cent increase from the 810 incidents recorded during the same period in 2018; which was itself a record high for this six month period, and formed part of a record annual total of 1,688 antisemitic incidents for the whole of 2018. CST has recorded antisemitic incidents since 1984.   

  • Man found guilty of racially abusing former boss

    In February 2019, an ex-employee from a steel company based in London, Mr Shane Pegg, made antisemitic comments towards the owner of the company as well as etching a swastika into a piece of metal belonging to the company.
